Great Expectations is an extensive fashion editorial commissioned by Dazed Magazine, capturing a diverse cast through a series of contrasting environments. Photographer Camille Summers-Valli navigates between high-contrast, gritty studio work—defined by chiaroscuro lighting and monochrome aesthetics—and candid, natural light narrative scenes set in urban and domestic spaces. The project leans into an analogue film quality, grounding its theatrical wardrobe and avant-garde character studies with a raw, observational feel. Fashion styling by Andra Amelia Buhai informs the eclectic visual language, which blends sharp tailoring with intricate textures. Set design by Emma Roach and movement direction by Yagamoto further shape the cinematic atmosphere across both indoor and outdoor compositions.
