Change the Ref’s project The Final Exam is an advocacy-driven film that explores the public discourse surrounding gun violence in schools. The piece employs a documentary approach, juxtaposing immersive first-person gameplay footage with real-world news broadcasts to highlight the disconnect in current societal debates. Developed by Energy BBDO, the project uses rapid cuts and high-contrast red-and-black graphic title cards to frame its commentary. By layering text-based statistics over live-action technique sequences, the film addresses the narrative of video games in relation to school shootings through a critical, objective lens.
