Chanel
Spring 2024 Eyewear Ad Campaign

May 2024
The Chanel Spring 2024 Eyewear ad campaign serves as a masterclass in editorial minimalism, stripping away the superfluous to place the focus entirely on the architectural precision of the house's latest designs. Under the creative direction of Virginie Viard, the campaign channels a sophisticated, high-fashion narrative that balances modern innovation with timeless brand heritage. Photographer Karim Sadli delivers a series of striking images that lean into the aesthetic of 35mm film, utilizing the raw, nostalgic appeal of contact sheet layouts to document the eyewear from multiple angles and intimate perspectives. By framing the models—including Liu Wen, Loli-Bahia, Alaato Jazyper, and América González—against stark white backgrounds, the work highlights the interplay between luxury accessories and personal style. Techniques such as high-key lighting and dramatic chiaroscuro contrasts define the collection, allowing the intricate chain-link detailing, metallic hardware, and oversized shield-style frames to command visual authority. The integration of traditional studio strobe lighting with the analogue feel of film frames creates a rhythmic, polished sequence that feels both meticulously curated and refreshingly direct. This project exemplifies how professional studio commercial photography can be elevated through intentional composition, ensuring the eyewear remains the focal point while maintaining a distinct, editorial edge that is synonymous with the Chanel aesthetic.
