Chanel
Fall 2023 Ad Campaign

Sep 2023
Chanel’s Fall 2023 ad campaign serves as a masterclass in the enduring power of the house’s signature motifs, capturing a vision that feels both heritage-steeped and daringly contemporary. Under the creative direction of Virginie Viard, the collection leans into a rich, graphic dialogue between texture and form, utilizing the iconic camellia as a central narrative thread that binds the seasonal aesthetic together. Photographed by the visionary duo Inez & Vinoodh, the project masterfully employs studio strobe lighting to delineate the intricate embroidery, tweed, and lace that define the garments. Loli-Bahia commands the frame with a poised, dynamic energy, her voluminous hair and bold, fuchsia-accented makeup providing a sharp, high-fashion counterpoint to the minimalist grey backdrop. Each portrait functions as a piece of editorial art, where the interplay of metallic pinks, vibrant reds, and stark black-and-white grids feels meticulously composed. By balancing cinematic low-key techniques with clean, commercial precision, the imagery elevates the house’s classic silhouettes into a modern landscape. The result is a cohesive, polished campaign that avoids mere product catalog aesthetics, instead favoring a sophisticated interplay of shadow and light that forces the viewer to focus on the craftsmanship of each layer, from the layered chain belts down to the patterned hosiery, effectively crystallizing Chanel's vision for the season.
