Balenciaga
'Valentine Series' 2025 Ad Campaign

Jan 2025
For its 2025 Valentine Series, Balenciaga subverts the traditional romantic aesthetic, leaning into a surreal, high-contrast vision that feels distinctly contemporary. Under the creative direction of Demna, the campaign redefines luxury fashion imagery by replacing soft-focus sentimentality with a sharp, distorted edge. Captured by photographer Emma Alvin, the series utilizes a pronounced fisheye lens and tilt-shift techniques to warp the architecture of confined, minimalist corridors into a disorienting, cinematic environment. This clever manipulation of space provides a vibrant, surreal stage for the collection, where models Elena, Redon, Jay Pak, and Momo serve as stoic anchors against a backdrop of deep red and orange floors. The styling highlights the tension between casual comfort and high-fashion eccentricity, featuring signature zip-up hoodies adorned with playful, hand-drawn Valentine motifs layered over structured tailoring. The editorial minimalism is heightened by an intentional focus on vivid, oversized balloon bouquets and floral arrangements, which pop against the sterile white walls. By blending natural light with live-action technique, the project successfully captures a cold, calculated intimacy that feels both authentic and avant-garde. It is a masterful study in perspective, where the wide-angle distortion forces the viewer to engage with the garment’s details and the brand’s rebellious spirit, proving once again that Balenciaga remains at the forefront of visual storytelling in the luxury fashion sector.
