Bio

Sean Thomas, a native of Omaha, Nebraska, spent his formative years immersed in the expansive beauty of the Great Plains, an influence that resonates throughout his work. Initially honing his artistic skills in Omaha, he furthered his studies in Lawrence, Kansas, before making the transformative leap to New York, where he began his career in art direction. After eight fruitful years in art direction, Thomas pivoted to photography, quickly establishing himself in the fashion world. His debut series for i-D magazine in 2008 showcased the innovative menswear designs of emerging designer Thom Browne, a project that catapulted him into the international spotlight and led to his first major advertising campaign for Browne. A storyteller at heart, Thomas masterfully intertwines fashion and documentary photography, producing compelling narratives in his commissions for prestigious publications such as American and British Vogue, the Wall Street Journal Magazine, Holiday, Self Service, L’Étiquette, and Harper’s Paris. His extensive travels—from the vibrant streets of Central and South America to the rich landscapes of Cuba, Ethiopia, and India—have not only enriched his portfolio but also earned him collaborations with renowned fashion houses like Ralph Lauren, Dolce & Gabbana, H&M, Calvin Klein, Stella McCartney, Chloé, Michael Kors, and Victoria’s Secret. Thomas is celebrated for his candid approach and profound connection with his subjects, resulting in photographs that are both energetic and life-affirming. His unique vision has culminated in the publication of three acclaimed photo books. The first, *Yearbook, Volume 1*, released by Razzle Dazzle Press in December 2022, offers a joyful collection of images celebrating the preceding year. This was followed by *Yearbook, Volume 2*, published in October 2023, continuing the narrative of his artistic journey. Additionally, *Louis Vuitton Fashion Eye Texas*, released in April 2023, captures intimate moments among friends, families, and lovers against the backdrop of Texas’ picturesque landscapes. Currently, Thomas splits his time between Paris, New York, and London, continuously exploring new narratives and visual stories through his lens.
