Reflections On Defiance is a fashion editorial series for The Travel Almanac featuring model Kristen McMenamy. The project leans into a moody, theatrical aesthetic characterized by low-key / chiaroscuro lighting and cinematic, painterly compositions. Photographer Jordan Hemingway captures McMenamy across a series of avant-garde looks, with creative direction by Paul Kominek and styling by Clare Byrne. The visual narrative utilizes textured surfaces, including dark velvet and rich satin, set against stark, minimalist backdrops. Hair by Kiyoko Odo and makeup by Cécile Paravina accentuate the sculptural, high-fashion silhouettes present throughout the series. Supporting production elements include set design by Max Bellhouse and casting by Bert Martirosyan.
