Esquire China The boys second skin 2026

About

The boys second skin is a fashion editorial produced for Esquire China. The series centers on contemporary menswear, emphasizing tailored silhouettes, layered textures, and deliberate accessorizing through a minimalist studio lens. Photographer Xiuyu Chang and fashion editor Wei Mao lean into a clean aesthetic, utilizing consistent, direct lighting to highlight the intricate details of knitwear, fur wraps, and structured tailoring. Models Li Cheng Yuan and Richard Grundins feature across the series, which shifts between vibrant color palettes and stark monochrome portraiture. The project incorporates editorial, clean, and minimalist techniques to focus on the sculptural quality of the garments. The result is a series of composed, vertical-frame portraits that emphasize texture and modern styling choices.
