Esquire China presents Back To The 80s, an editorial fashion portrait series that leans into a monochromatic aesthetic. Captured by photographer Zeb Daemen, the project explores textures and layers, utilizing soft, directional lighting to highlight the intricate details of the garments. Fashion editor and stylist Way Perry curates a wardrobe of heavy knits, patterned trench coats, and tailored trousers. The visual narrative is supported by hair styling from Bjorn Krischker and set design by Josh Stovell, featuring draped burlap and neutral grey studio backdrops that emphasize a gritty, tactile quality. Featuring models Woosang Kim and Kit Price, the imagery employs analogue film techniques to build its retro-inspired look. Casting by Remi Felipe grounds the series, with composition and typography framing the subjects in this curated editorial showcase.
