Time Imprint is an editorial still-life series produced for Esquire China, documenting a curated collection of luxury timepieces. The project captures each watch through highly composed, tactile arrangements that pair technical precision with thematic accessories, ranging from drafting tools and scientific equations to artisanal art supplies and sporting artifacts. Photographer Robert You employs a consistent soft light technique to maintain a clean, graphic visual language across the series. Each composition functions as a layered, vertical display, utilizing varied textures such as distressed books, raw burlap, and weathered cardstock to ground the watches in distinct creative contexts. By juxtaposing metallic watch cases with vintage ephemera and industrial hardware, the series leans into a nostalgic and tactile aesthetic that elevates the horological subjects within a stylized narrative format.
