Plaukai is a collaborative editorial project by Special Projects that explores the aesthetic interplay between extreme hair length and diverse fashion silhouettes. The series captures subjects from behind, framing hair as a central visual motif that cascades in various textures, from straight and crimped to wavy and golden blonde. Photographer Francesca Allen utilizes a mix of analogue film and sharp flash techniques to document these subjects, often incorporating domestic and industrial backdrops that emphasize the tactile nature of the clothing. The styling serves as a conceptual framework, frequently using measuring tapes to underscore the project's focus on length and proportion across a range of moody, monochrome, and clean editorial compositions.
