Photography by Alexa Sonsino

May 2026
In this latest editorial showcase, photographer Alexa Sonsino strips back the noise of contemporary fashion imagery, favoring a stark and minimalist aesthetic that places the human form at the center of the frame. Working within the sphere of luxury fashion, the series utilizes clean, studio-based portraiture to explore the tension between high-concept sartorial choices and raw, organic human expression. By leaning into natural light and disciplined compositions, Sonsino creates a dialogue between the models and the lens that feels both intimate and detached. The project is elevated by the precise artistry of makeup artist Iria Salgado, whose bold application of graphic eyeshadow and experimental pigments on the skin provides a necessary, high-contrast punctuation to the muted palettes of the garments. With the strategic casting of Aida Atarssa and Grace Van Petten, the images channel an atmosphere of quiet intensity, where bleached brows and focused gazes replace traditional glitz. The technical execution, ranging from soft natural light to crisp studio strobe setups, highlights a refined sense of editorial minimalism that prioritizes skin texture and textile volume. Through this collaboration, the project serves as a compelling exploration of identity and form, demonstrating how a pared-back approach can command the same level of authority and visual intrigue as more cluttered, maximalist campaigns.
