SKIMS
Cotton Collection 2024 Ad Campaign

Jun 2024
For the Cotton Collection 2024 campaign, SKIMS leans into a serene, monochromatic aesthetic that feels both expansive and deeply intimate. By placing the brand firmly within the landscape of the desert, the campaign utilizes a minimalist editorial approach to highlight the tactile quality of the ribbed cotton fabric. Photographer Henrik Purienne masterfully captures the intersection of soft-focus lifestyle imagery and precise fashion portraiture, drawing out the subtle textures of the collection against a backdrop of golden sand dunes and clear, expansive blue skies. The project features Jhené Aiko as the primary talent, whose presence brings a grounded, calm energy to the visuals. Throughout the series, the use of natural light is paramount, casting gentle shadows that accentuate the clean, form-fitting silhouettes of the bodysuits and separates. The collaboration, overseen by Chief Creative Officer Kim Kardashian, feels intentionally restrained; it avoids unnecessary noise to prioritize the interplay between the human form and the raw, earthy environment. By focusing on wide-angled shots alongside tighter mid-shot portraits, the work achieves a visual rhythm that feels cohesive and high-end. This commercial fashion effort succeeds by stripping back the artifice, allowing the deliberate, quiet confidence of the apparel to resonate against the vast, sun-drenched horizon of the desert landscape.
