Self Service
Assertively

Mar 2026
Assertively, a striking new showcase for Self Service, captures the tension between modern minimalism and high-fashion editorial rigor. Through a series of carefully curated portraits, the project explores the interplay of form, texture, and identity, moving seamlessly between vivid color palettes and stark, emotive black and white compositions. Photographer Larissa Hofmann anchors the work with a sharp, discerning eye, expertly utilizing natural light to highlight the intricate materials—from matte leather bombers and structured blazers to delicate metallic accessories. Fashion editor and stylist Camille Bidault Waddington brings a cohesive, contemporary edge to the series, ensuring each look feels purposeful and elevated. The casting, overseen by Julia Lange, features models like Eva Yelmani and Evie Nopere, who inhabit these silhouettes with a quiet, powerful presence that eschews artifice. By leaning into editorial portrait techniques, the project maintains a clean, architectural aesthetic that makes excellent use of negative space and controlled studio strobe setups. The result is a sophisticated visual narrative that prioritizes the tactile qualities of garment construction, such as the contrast between soft knits and sharp tailoring. With contributions from hair stylist Akemi Kishida and makeup artist Karin Westerlund, the imagery feels impeccably polished yet grounded in reality, offering a masterclass in how to strip back the excess to let the strength of both the subject and the design shine through with singular, assertive clarity.
