Neiman Marcus
Fall 2023 Ad Campaign

Aug 2023
For its Fall 2023 ad campaign, Neiman Marcus leans into a world of heightened artifice and atmospheric tension, successfully bridging the gap between high-fashion editorial and cinematic storytelling. Under the creative direction of Nabil Aliffi and through the lens of photographer Arnaud Lajeunie, the campaign constructs a series of surreal, highly stylized environments that range from deep-blue, swamp-like landscapes to dramatic, sun-drenched desert horizons. The imagery relies heavily on low-key and chiaroscuro lighting techniques, which carve out silhouettes against vibrant, saturated backdrops of fiery sunsets and snow-dusted mountain peaks. Models, including Hannah Wick and Mark Vanderloo, are framed within these theatrical vignettes to highlight the intricate textures of the luxury apparel, from fluid, sheer gowns to structured leather outerwear and heavy, fringed coats. By integrating live-action technique with a crisp, editorial eye, the project avoids the pitfalls of standard retail photography, instead opting for a sophisticated, ethereal narrative. The deliberate use of natural light, interspersed with controlled studio strobe effects, reinforces the luxury fashion house's commitment to a bold, avant-garde aesthetic. Every frame functions as an immersive study in contrast, where human presence acts as a grounded counterpoint to the imaginative, often haunting landscapes, resulting in a cohesive visual language that feels both aspirational and deeply cinematic for the modern luxury consumer.
