For Modern Weekly China, I'd rather sleep is a fashion editorial series that constructs a fragmented, cinematic narrative. Starring model Lindsey Wixson, the project moves between domestic interiors and surreal outdoor settings, utilizing a distinctive documentary-style aesthetic and embedded subtitle captions to evoke a hazy, dreamlike atmosphere. Photographer and creative director Jumbo Tsui defines the project's visual language, oscillating between moody flash-lit night photography and soft, desaturated natural light captures. The series leans into a retro sensibility, employing grainy textures and a nostalgia-driven color palette to explore intimate, often uncanny vignettes. Fashion styling by Serafin Zielinski and makeup artistry by Marianna Yurkiewicz ground the ethereal imagery in vibrant, varied wardrobe choices.
