MMScene: Dreaming Awake

Dreaming Awake is a fashion editorial commissioned by MMScene that oscillates between avant-garde studio portraiture and candid, location-based street photography. The series features a recurring male subject, captured by photographer Elys Berroteran with styling by Victor Lopez, balancing clean, minimalist aesthetics with dramatic, theatrical silhouettes. The project utilizes a distinct visual language, often employing monochrome analogue film to emphasize texture and tonal contrast. Throughout the work, the imagery moves from tightly framed studio sessions—highlighted by elaborate feathered millinery and conceptual accessories—to expansive outdoor settings on city piers and narrow urban corridors. These compositions favour a high-contrast, cinematic mood that leans into natural light and gritty, architectural environments.
