HERO Magazine
Young + in Paris

Mar 2026
Young + in Paris, an evocative editorial campaign for HERO Magazine, captures the raw vitality and refined sensibilities of contemporary youth culture through a sophisticated monochrome lens. By stripping back color, the project highlights the interplay of light and texture, alternating between the deliberate control of studio strobe photography and the spontaneous, kinetic energy of Parisian streets. Photographer Joe Brennan masterfully navigates this dichotomy, balancing polished, minimalist studio portraits with cinematic, documentary-style lifestyle imagery that leans into a raw, urban aesthetic. The narrative is driven by an eclectic cast including Alrik Lagier, Bakary Cisse, Benjamin Carion, Falilou Ndiaye, and Yahne Ba, whose varied styling—executed with precision—allows each individual to inhabit their own space within the collective frame. Through the architectural lines of sharp tailoring and the relaxed silhouettes of modern streetwear, the collection channels a sense of introspection and youthful resilience. The integration of nuanced hair styling by Vincent Zimberlin and expert casting by Edward Kim ensures a cohesive visual language that feels both timeless and deeply current. Whether utilizing high-contrast chiaroscuro lighting to define character or the softer, diffused glow of natural light, the series reads as a poetic exploration of identity, movement, and fashion, ultimately offering a nuanced window into the modern experience of being young and in the city.
