HERO Magazine
JPG X Duran Lantink Special

Mar 2026
In this evocative editorial collaboration for HERO Magazine, the intersection of luxury fashion houses and avant-garde design takes center stage through a special feature on the Jean Paul Gaultier and Duran Lantink partnership. Photographer Carlijn Jacobs captures the collection’s sculptural prowess by placing the avant-garde silhouettes within both stark, minimalist studio settings and the raw, natural textures of pebble beaches. The project leans into editorial minimalism, utilizing natural light to ground the surreal, highly graphic forms of the garments, from rigid cylindrical skirts to petal-like chest panels. The aesthetic is defined by a bold interplay of color, where vibrant orange accents and striking pink lipstick provide sharp contrast against monochromatic, striped patterns. Under the styling eye of Berenger Pelc, model Aniek Pietersma embodies a poised, otherworldly stillness, with bleached brows and avant-garde makeup applications further reinforcing the surreal undertones of the shoot. Casting director Piergiorgio Del Moro brings a precise focus to the imagery, ensuring the human form remains the essential anchor for these intricate pieces. By oscillating between the diffused, moody atmosphere of outdoor portraiture and the crisp, controlled environment of studio strobe lighting, the work achieves a tension between classic fashion editorial sensibilities and a forward-looking, conceptual art perspective that defines the current landscape of high-end luxury fashion houses.
