Fucking Young
Elsewhere, by the lake

Aug 2026
Elsewhere, by the lake presents a refreshing departure from the clinical sterility often found in modern menswear editorials, opting instead for an immersive study of movement and nature. Commissioned by Fucking Young, the project leans into a raw, tactile aesthetic that celebrates the interplay between rugged outdoor environments and sophisticated garment design. Photographer Jody Mattioli captures model Ryder Forsyth in a series of compositions that feel both spontaneous and meticulously framed, utilizing high-speed freeze techniques to catch water droplets in mid-air and bring a palpable sense of kinetic energy to the frame. The styling, curated by Fashion Editor Pier Fioraso, acts as a bridge between the organic landscape and high-concept attire, pairing technical fabrics like shiny green jackets with grounded, earthy textures such as plaid and canvas. By prioritizing natural light and dappled forest shadows, the team avoids the overly manicured tropes of the genre, favoring an authentic, lifestyle-driven approach that makes the garments feel lived-in and kinetic. Through a deliberate mix of editorial minimalism and spirited action, the project successfully elevates menswear beyond simple product display, framing the clothing as an extension of the environment itself. This project serves as a compelling reminder of how effective collaboration between a skilled casting director like Giulia Masini and the lens can transform a standard fashion shoot into a narrative experience that feels both grounded and aspirational.
