PLEIN SOLEIL

Apr 2026
PLEIN SOLEIL for CR Fashion Book serves as a masterclass in editorial minimalism, distilling luxury fashion into a sequence of sharp, evocative portraits. The project leans into high-key lighting to strip away distraction, allowing the interplay between structure and texture to take center stage. Under the guidance of fashion editor and stylist Johanna Ankelhed, the imagery oscillates between the rigid, architectural forms of leather crop tops and opera gloves, and the ethereal, organic movement of layered feathers. Photographer Xavier Casanueva executes this vision with clinical precision, utilizing both natural light and studio strobes to heighten the contrast against vibrant, saturated backdrops of electric blue and sun-drenched yellow. The deliberate use of bold, monochromatic environments provides a stark foundation that elevates each garment, from structured wool coats to delicate petal-adorned dresses, into a standalone sculptural statement. By placing model Olivia Petronella Palermo at the heart of these compositions, the work remains grounded in a cool, neutral focus that highlights the tactile richness of the styling. Supported by the precise grooming of hair stylist Hiro Furukawa and makeup artist Tiziana Raimondo, the campaign achieves an aesthetic clarity that feels both timeless and distinctly contemporary, proving that in the world of high fashion, the most compelling narratives are often found in the refinement of shape, color, and texture.
