Bygones
Brand Identity

Sep 2025
The brand identity for Bygones establishes a sophisticated, mood-driven presence for the Birmingham-based cocktail bar. Through a collection of commercial photography and graphic design, the project leans into a warm, nostalgic aesthetic that balances rustic architectural elements with precise, clean typographic applications. The visual language features a high-contrast color palette of deep red and cream, applied across custom collateral including menu books, matchboxes, and glassware. Graphic designer Matey developed a suite of vector illustrations and custom signage that integrates hand-drawn iconography with elegant serif lettering. This graphic framework is complemented by the cinematography and photography of Andrew Thomas Lee, who documents the venue’s textured interiors, characterized by exposed brick, polished concrete, and intimate, ambient lighting. The resulting body of work creates a cohesive narrative for the hospitality space, utilizing minimalist vector techniques and cinematic lighting to define the brand's identity.
