Burberry Athleisure

May 2026
Burberry pushes the boundaries of luxury with its latest Athleisure campaign, a project that seamlessly bridges the gap between high-fashion heritage and performance-ready sportswear. Set against the rugged, sun-drenched backdrop of a coastal landscape, the campaign leans into a sophisticated aesthetic that feels both raw and curated. By marrying the precision of high-speed freeze photography with the relaxed energy of a lifestyle editorial, the series captures the kinetic movement of models Mauria Caetano and Babacar N'doye, whose athletic stances feel purposeful against the stark, textured granite. Photographer Raffaele Cariou leans heavily into the sharp, bright clarity of natural light, which serves to accentuate the technical fabrics of the collection while maintaining a clean, editorial minimalism. The styling, helmed by Tamara Rothstein, subtly integrates the brand’s iconic checked detailing into performance silhouettes, reinforcing a narrative of functional elegance. With deliberate hair styling by Gonn Kinoshita and a fresh, radiant makeup look by Mee Kee, the imagery avoids the overly polished tropes of traditional sportswear advertising. Instead, the project channels a sense of maritime exploration, underscored by the recurring, bold inclusion of the equestrian knight emblem. This collaboration feels like a definitive statement for the luxury sector, demonstrating that athleisure can remain deeply rooted in craftsmanship while embracing the demands of an active, modern lifestyle.
