5ELEVEN Magazine’s 'French New Wave' project is a comprehensive fashion editorial series that draws inspiration from the aesthetic hallmarks of mid-century European arthouse cinema. Captured through a high-contrast, monochrome lens, the work prioritises texture and atmospheric storytelling, set against the backdrop of classic architectural streetscapes and traditional Parisian-style cafés. Photographer Edwin S Freyer employs analogue film techniques and shallow depth of field to create an intimate, documentary-style narrative. Stylist Alton Hetariki curates a wardrobe of structured tailoring, velvet capes, and intricate lace, complemented by the beauty direction of makeup artist Sarah Wandee. Casting director Lewis Waters features models Carol Levergger, Matteo Baez, and Sasha Cortesi, who move through gritty urban environments with a deliberate, introspective mood.
