Description

This detailed vertical photograph captures a young green seedling resting against a backdrop of dark, rich soil. Slender, pale stems extend upward into small, unfolding green leaves while a delicate, intricate network of white and cream-colored roots sprawls across the lower portion of the frame. Dried, withered foliage is scattered among the soil and roots, creating a natural textural contrast. The natural lighting highlights the fine textures of the plant matter and the granular surface of the earth. Photographed in Paris by Laurie Basset.
