About

This close-up overhead photograph captures a cluster of cholla cactus stems densely covered in sharp, needle-like white spines. The intricate natural textures of the succulent contrast sharply with the dark, granular desert soil beneath it. Natural daylight illuminates the scene, highlighting the fine details and thorny structure of the plant. Camera interface icons are subtly visible near the bottom of the composition. The shot was captured by photographer Jake Michaels.
