Vogue Portugal's editorial, A arte e o artesão, explores the intersection of high fashion and traditional craftsmanship. Captured against the backdrop of historic stone cathedrals, coastal windmills, and rustic artisan workshops, the series juxtaposes intricate evening wear with heritage folk costumes. The imagery leans into a grainy, analogue film aesthetic that heightens the tactile qualities of embroidered textiles and ancient architecture. Photographer Élio Nogueira works with fashion editor Loizos Sofokleous to frame model Elza Matiz amidst groups of performers and artisans. The project utilizes soft natural light to ground the editorial in a contemplative, earthy atmosphere, with hair by Vasco Freitas and makeup by Jessica Carvalho reinforcing the culturally inspired narrative. Editorial direction is led by Sofia Lucas.
