Violet Papers
The Shape Of Later

Jul 2026
In The Shape Of Later, Violet Papers delivers a masterclass in editorial portraiture that leans into the intersection of human form and botanical surrealism. Through the lens of photographer Elizaveta Porodina, the project explores an ethereal, dreamlike aesthetic that feels both intimate and grand in scale. The imagery heavily utilizes double exposure and chiaroscuro techniques, weaving vibrant floral layers and macro textures against deep, shadowy backgrounds to create a lingering, cinematic atmosphere. This series is anchored by the nuanced hair styling of Yumiko Hikage and the delicate, precise makeup artistry of Karin Westerlund, which collectively amplify the tactile nature of the subjects. The casting, curated by Monika Domarke, features model Ivy Stewart, whose steady, neutral gaze provides a grounding contrast to the more fantastical, layered compositions. With set design by Isabelle Clotten, the project masterfully balances high-key luminosity with moody, low-key lighting, effectively pushing the boundaries of traditional fashion portraiture. Each frame reads as a deliberate study in texture, whether through the placement of pressed petals or the subtle, layered distortion of a double exposure. By prioritizing a soft, natural light aesthetic, the project avoids the sterility of standard studio shoots, opting instead for a conceptual depth that elevates the work into a realm of pure, evocative visual storytelling that feels timeless.
