Versace
Icons Spring 2024 Ad Campaign

Apr 2024
Versace redefines the essence of modern luxury with its Icons Spring 2024 ad campaign, a masterclass in editorial minimalism that strips away the noise to spotlight timeless garment construction. Under the creative direction of Donatella Versace, the campaign leans into a stark, refined aesthetic that prioritizes form, silhouette, and materiality. Renowned photography duo Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott utilize high-key lighting and precise studio strobe setups to capture subjects Cillian Murphy and Anne Hathaway in a series of arresting portraits. The visual language is intentionally restrained, relying on a clean, seamless backdrop—ranging from stark white to neutral grey—to ensure the focus remains entirely on the tailoring and texture of the pieces. Stylist Jacob K brings a cohesive edge to the narrative, balancing the sharp, structured lines of tailored blazers and trench coats with the soft, organic volume of the hair and accessories. Whether Murphy is captured in a precise, wide-leg trouser ensemble or Hathaway is featured in sleek, leather-bodice dresses, the imagery feels both contemporary and enduring. By discarding extraneous detail in favor of high-contrast monochrome and clean composition, the project effectively underscores the brand’s ability to anchor its most iconic designs in a sophisticated, camera-ready reality that speaks to the power of pure, classic portraiture.
