This portrait series for The Metropolitan Opera, captured by photographer Paola Kudacki, documents a conductor in motion. The project balances commercial precision with more experimental visual techniques, transitioning between clean, bright frames and high-contrast, atmospheric compositions. The execution relies on dynamic movement and expressive gestures to bring the subject to life. While the first set of images utilizes clean lighting for a sharp, natural aesthetic, the second series leans into chiaroscuro and multiple exposure techniques to create a cinematic quality. Styling by John Colver and hair by Adam Markarian provide a formal foundation that holds the imagery together across these varying visual styles.
