Description

Up Close and Personal is an editorial fashion series for Vogue Portugal that leans into intimate, high-contrast portraiture. By focusing on extreme macro details and raw skin textures, the project captures a tactile study of age, poise, and composition. Photographer Ekin Can Bayrakdar employs clean, directional lighting and a mix of monochrome and natural-light palettes to highlight structural elements like sculptural jewellery and leather tailoring. The work relies on an editorial aesthetic, utilising macro and chiaroscuro techniques to define the contours and expressions of the subjects. The series features hair styling by Chris Sweeney and makeup by Faye Bluff, with model Richard Biedul appearing throughout the collection. The resulting imagery emphasizes natural lines and subtle details within a minimalist studio environment.
