Pin Ups is an expansive fashion editorial series for The Perfect Magazine, defined by a rigorous, high-contrast monochrome aesthetic. Photographer Sølve Sundsbø leads the project, working alongside fashion editor Jeanie Annan-Lewin to create a sequence of striking portraits and conceptual still lifes that prioritize sculptural form and clean, graphic composition. The series explores editorial portraiture through a diverse cast, including models Alessandra Ambrosio, Lila Moss, Iris Law, and Ned Sims, alongside entertainers like John Glacier and actors including Adrien Brody, Felicity Jones, and Marisa Abela. Technically, the work leans into a refined studio practice, utilizing soft directional lighting and low-key chiaroscuro techniques to emphasize textures, from intricate jewellery and tailored fabrics to avant-garde sculptural costumes. The collaborative execution includes hair styling by Syd Hayes, makeup by Val Garland, and set design by Andrew Lim Clarkson. Many of the captures adopt an analogue film sensibility, maintaining a sharp visual clarity that anchors the project’s surreal and artistic motifs within a polished commercial frame.
