Disorder in the Garden
Date

May 2026

Description

Disorder in the Garden serves as a compelling exploration of the friction between structured design and the wild, unpredictable nature of the outdoors. Commissioned for Numéro Switzerland, this fashion editorial campaign masterfully juxtaposes high-end, architectural silhouettes against raw, organic settings, ranging from dense woodland clearings to sterile commercial greenhouses. Under the creative direction of Manman Mira, the project leans into a narrative of deliberate contrast, where voluminous draped garments and complex, pleated ensembles find themselves placed within moody, foliage-rich environments. The photography, executed by Haoyu Jin, captures these moments through a lens of editorial minimalism, consistently utilizing natural light to elevate the textures of the textiles while maintaining a contemplative, introspective mood. By incorporating unexpected elements, such as a botanical armchair stranded in a forest or a sleek studio backdrop erected in the brush, the series challenges traditional notions of luxury photography. The production, managed by Nick Lv, ensures a seamless visual consistency that ties together these disparate locations and intricate styling choices. Throughout the series, the subjects maintain a direct, grounded gaze that cuts through the whimsical surroundings, rooting the high-fashion aesthetic in a sense of reality. Ultimately, this work stands as a sophisticated study in visual tension, perfectly balancing the clean lines of couture with the messy, tactile beauty of the natural world.
