Nikotin
Brand Identity

Mar 2026
The brand identity for Nikotin Restobar in Amsterdam is a masterclass in high-contrast visual communication, effectively blurring the lines between raw urban aesthetic and professional hospitality design. Through the lens of photographer Defne Albayrak and the precise design vision of Davy Denduyver, the project leans into a bold, minimalist language defined by a signature palette of saturated orange and stark black. This visual identity extends far beyond a simple logo, encompassing everything from corporate menu design and business collateral to event posters and branded merchandise. The use of typography is particularly expressive, juxtaposing structured, heavy sans-serif fonts with gestural, handwritten scripts that capture the restless, kinetic energy of the establishment. The lifestyle photography utilizes natural light and a moody, cinematic approach to ground these graphic elements in the tactile reality of the restaurant experience. Whether through a macro shot of a wrinkled receipt or a candid overhead perspective of a shared meal, the imagery maintains a cohesive, raw quality that feels both curated and authentically lived-in. By blending these commercial techniques with fine art illustration and moody chiaroscuro lighting, the project establishes Nikotin as a distinct, modern presence in the Amsterdam dining scene, proving that a strong graphic identity can elevate a restaurant from a mere location to a cohesive, immersive lifestyle brand.
