National Gallery of Canada
Brand Identity

Aug 2021
The National Gallery of Canada's brand identity refresh, led by AREA 17, introduces a cohesive visual system built upon minimalist principles and high-contrast typography. The project centers on a distinctive geometric emblem, establishing a modular framework that translates across institutional digital media and physical applications. The system utilizes a vibrant palette of pastel gradients balanced by bold black sans-serif lettering. From outdoor billboard grids to UI illustrations for mobile screens, the design demonstrates the versatility of the institutional branding. This aesthetic extends to merchandise and publication design, where clean structural forms and photographic elements work in tandem to unify the gallery's communications.
