Givenchy
Fall 2023 Men's Ad Campaign

Jul 2023
For the Fall 2023 Men's ad campaign, Givenchy leans into the power of monochromatic tension, enlisting global music icon Taeyang as the face of a collection defined by sharp tailoring and nuanced textures. Under the creative vision and lens of Matthew M. Williams, the imagery serves as a masterclass in editorial minimalism. Each frame operates within a strict black-and-white palette, utilizing high-key lighting and precise chiaroscuro to strip away the superfluous, leaving only the structural integrity of the garments and the artist’s contemplative intensity. The project effectively bridges the gap between commercial accessibility and high-fashion storytelling. Stylist Gee Eun anchors the aesthetic, curating a wardrobe that balances rugged earth tones and olive-green wools with the avant-garde edge of angular sunglasses and intricate feather embellishments. Complementing these looks, Hyunwoo Lee’s precise wet-look hair styling and Heakyung Lim’s clean makeup application emphasize the sculptural quality of the portraits, ensuring the Givenchy brand identity remains front and center. Whether utilizing cinematic studio strobe techniques or natural light transitions, the campaign avoids the noise of modern excess, favoring a direct, portrait-led approach that highlights the interplay between luxury fashion and personal performance. The resulting visuals feel both timeless and urgent, capturing a precise moment in the brand's trajectory while proving that in the world of high-end menswear, restraint remains the most effective form of expression.
