Description

The brand identity for Flee, specifically curated for the project titled Tarantismo: Odyssey of an Italian Ritual, masterfully bridges the gap between deep-rooted anthropological research and contemporary visual design. Developed with meticulous graphic design by Non-verbal Club, the project serves as a sophisticated exploration of the Salento region’s cultural history, translating complex historical narratives of pizzica music and tarantism into a cohesive, tactile product. The visual language leans into a stark, high-contrast aesthetic that feels both archival and urgent, utilizing cinematic lighting and chiaroscuro techniques to breathe life into the printed materials. Throughout the collection, the reliance on minimalist editorial typography and intentional negative space ensures that the dense academic text remains the hero of the spread. Whether presented as a black-and-white vinyl record sleeve or a hardbound academic publication, the design remains anchored by an artistic commitment to organic, gestural linework that mirrors the ritualistic subjects under investigation. By employing natural light to cast distinct shadows across grainy, monochromatic portraits and clean infographics, the studio creates a layered, immersive experience that respects the historical weight of the content. This project stands as a testament to the power of commercial design to elevate documentary-style storytelling, transforming academic inquiry into a visually arresting and highly collectible piece of contemporary cultural media.
