Duel Magazine
Heat Haze

Jun 2026
Heat Haze is a compelling fashion editorial project for Duel Magazine that masterfully explores the intersection of human form, minimalist design, and the raw elements of the natural world. Through a series of striking portraits and lifestyle captures, the project leans into editorial minimalism, utilizing high-contrast natural light to accentuate the textures of both the environment and the garments. The narrative arc moves fluidly between the rugged, weathered aesthetics of coastal rock formations and the clean, utilitarian lines of urban architectural backdrops. Central to the visual success of this shoot is the work of fashion editor and stylist Maria Davila, who curates a wardrobe of sculptural silhouettes and vibrant, contrasting knits that feel both avant-garde and grounded. Complementing this, makeup artist Yurema Villa provides a refined touch that highlights the subjects' sun-warmed skin, maintaining an authentic, tactile quality throughout the series. Model Tanya Ruban commands each frame with a poised, contemplative presence, whether she is adorned in avant-garde black mini dresses or soft, hooded knitwear. By prioritizing intentional composition and sharp graphic contrast, Heat Haze captures a cinematic atmosphere that feels simultaneously spontaneous and meticulously considered, offering a sophisticated study in visual storytelling that celebrates the interplay between fashion and the landscape.
