Bottega Veneta: Craft is Our Language

Date

Apr 2025

Description

Bottega Veneta’s campaign, Craft is Our Language, serves as an intimate exploration of human gesture and material tactile quality. Directed and photographed by Jack Davison, the series strips away the noise of high-fashion production, opting instead for a rigorous, clean aesthetic that centers on the house’s signature intrecciato leather and intricate garment construction. Across a diverse cast—including Julianne Moore and Tyler, the Creator—the work relies on expressive, spontaneous movement, favoring candid emotion over static posing. Executed in a stark monochrome palette, the editorial imagery employs high-contrast lighting and soft chiaroscuro to define the sculptural nature of both the subjects and the apparel. With fashion styling by Robbie Spencer and hair and makeup by Sigi Kumpfmüller and Hiromi Ueda respectively, the campaign emphasizes a refined, minimalist sensibility. Set design by Staci Lee and Julia Wagner provides a neutral, seamless backdrop that ensures the focus remains on the interplay of skin, hand gestures, and the deliberate grain of analogue film photography.
