For the project BAILES in A Magazine Curated By, photographer Diego Bendezu documents traditional dance attire and movement through a series of dynamic editorial portraits. The work focuses on the intricate textures, embroideries, and ceremonial regalia of traditional Andean dress, framing subjects against high-contrast studio backdrops. Bendezu employs a mix of lighting techniques to capture rhythmic performance, shifting between sharp, monochromatic portraiture and long-exposure motion blur. By utilizing saturated colour palettes alongside low-key, moody compositions, the series emphasizes the kinetic nature of the dance while detailing the craftsmanship of the costumes.
