Born and raised in Tokyo, Takuya Sugawara grew up in a family of hairstylists. His early exposure to hairstyling influenced his choice to enter the profession. Takuya began his career in Tokyo before moving to London, where he developed a diverse client base. He gained valuable freelance experience working as a first assistant to renowned hairstylist Christiaan Houtenbos, which was pivotal for his growth in the editorial hairstyling field. His work has appeared in prestigious publications such as Harper’s Bazaar, V Magazine, and various editions of Vogue. He has collaborated with notable photographers and leading designers, serving as the lead hairstylist for major fashion events and campaigns. Currently, Takuya resides in New York City.
