Sophie Fletcher

Bio

Sophie Fletcher is a multi disciplinary Costume and Set Designer. Sophie’s academic background in Fashion and Textile Design (Curtin University) and Design for Live Performance – Theatre and Events (WAAPA) has formed this creative framework. Sophie is passionate about designing for moving image, focusing on character and story development through costume design. Recently she designed costumes for Abe Forsyth’s television series Wolf Like Me, with Made Up Stories, which was released on STAN in early 2022. Sophie costume designed all three seasons of FX Networks television series Mr Inbetween, directed by Nash Edgerton, as well as AACTA award-winning ABC series The Letdown, created by Alison Bell and Sarah Scheller.Sophie’s film work includes Acute Misfortune by writer and director Thomas. M. Wright, which was awarded The Age Critics Award for best Australian feature in 2018, and Kim Farrant’s feature Angel of Mine written by Luke Davies. Sophie has created shorts with directors such as Nash Edgerton, Eden Falk, and Mirrah Foulkes (Florence Has Left the Building, winner of the 2015 AACTA Award for Best Short Film). Sophie's portfolio of TVC work includes projects with Revolver and Rabbit Content directors such as Kim Gehrig, Shannon Murphy and Dani Pearce. In addition to her long form projects, Sophie designs sets for fashion editorials and stills campaigns. As a regular Vogue Magazine collaborator, Sophie has worked closely with creatives such as Jillian Davison, Charles Dennington and Emma Summerton. Her work with Dennington and Davison, depicting model Adut Akech in her Adelaide family home, is represented in the collection of the National Portrait Gallery in Canberra. As Sophie’s practice has evolved she has continued her work in the theatre industry where she started her career. She has designed costumes and sets for Griffin Theatre Company, Belvoir and Bell Shakespeare, and has worked on a multitude of iconic plays for Sydney Theatre Company.
