Born in Paris in 1978, Paul Schmidt spent a significant part of his adolescence in Dakar, where he first discovered his passion for photography. This vibrant city, with its rich tapestry of human relationships and the dynamic pulse of urban life, profoundly influenced his artistic vision. A self-taught photographer, Paul honed his craft through a series of compelling photo essays, often developing his own images in a makeshift darkroom nestled in the family bathroom. This hands-on approach allowed him to deeply connect with his subjects and capture the essence of their stories. Upon returning to Paris, Paul expanded his skill set by immersing himself in fashion photography. Drawing from his diverse experiences, encounters, and travels, he officially embarked on his career as a fashion and portrait photographer in 2009. His work exists at the intersection of fashion and street culture, characterized by an intimate connection with his subjects.
