Bio

Kenneth Cappello, a Houston native, draws vibrant inspiration from his roots in skateboarding and punk rock, which infuse his photography and filmmaking with an undeniable energy. His artistic journey took a significant turn in the late 1990s when he served as an assistant to renowned photographer David LaChapelle. This pivotal experience led to his first major story in 2001, featuring the notorious IRAK crew in New York. That same year, Cappello's distinctive vision earned him the cover of Dazed & Confused's New York Issue, propelling him into the limelight. Today, Cappello is celebrated for his striking portraits of a diverse array of artists, including Billie Eilish, G-Dragon, Travis Scott, and Iggy Pop. He has captured cultural icons such as Mike Tyson, Pharrell Williams, Virgil Abloh, and Dr. Dre, as well as sports legends like LeBron James, Neymar, Aaron Rodgers, and Kobe Bryant. His lens has also been employed by leading brands including Adidas, Apple, Nike, Netflix, Sephora, and Supreme. Cappello's work has been featured in notable publications, including *Acid Drop*, curated by Tim Barber, and *Dream & Drive*, which showcases a decade of film photography documenting his tours with Allison Mosshart and Jamie Hince of The Kills. His latest exhibition, *Hip-Hop: Conscious, Unconscious*, is currently on display at Fotogrfiska Museum in New York, running from January 26 to May 21, 2023. Through his dynamic imagery, Cappello continues to redefine the boundaries of contemporary visual culture.
