Bio
Andrew Jacobs is a New York-based photographer celebrated for his striking fashion imagery that melds the potent simplicity of color and light. With a keen eye for detail and an innate understanding of visual storytelling, Andrew has carved a distinctive niche in the industry. Born and raised in Cape Town, Andrew relocated to the United States as a teenager, where he initially pursued a degree in journalism. His passion for photography ignited as he began capturing candid moments among friends, leading him to collaborate with independent fashion brands. Today, his impressive client roster includes renowned names such as J.Crew, Mansur Gavriel, Net-a-Porter, Noah, SSENSE, Uniqlo, and Vince. A profound influence of color theory shapes Andrew's artistic vision, as he expertly navigates the foundational elements of composition, light, and atmosphere in his work. He reflects, “I love interaction, laughter, and movement—photography is a joyful pursuit for me, and I strive to convey that emotion in every image.” Beyond commercial assignments, Andrew finds great fulfillment in exploring documentary photography. His personal projects allow him to step outside the boundaries of fashion, embracing the unpredictability and raw authenticity that documentary work demands. “Fashion offers ultimate control, whereas documentary challenges me daily. It’s a continuous journey of learning, and I am eager to share these experiences through my lens.” His work has also made a significant impact in the editorial realm, with assignments for prestigious publications such as T Magazine and WSJ Magazine, marking a rewarding return to his journalistic roots. In 2018, Andrew showcased his talent in Red Hook Labs’ New Artists exhibition, further solidifying his place in the contemporary art scene. **Client List:** American Vogue, Bode, Carhartt WIP, Document Journal, J.Crew, Mansur Gavriel, Noah, T Magazine, Uniqlo, Vince, and WSJ Magazine.
