Bio

Andrew Eccles, a distinguished photographer, was born in England and spent his formative years in Toronto, Canada. At the age of twelve, his family relocated to the stunning landscapes of Hawaii, where he completed two years of high school before returning to Vancouver to graduate. He then honed his artistic skills at The Ontario College of Art for three years, followed by two transformative years in Texas, ultimately leading him to the vibrant art scene of New York. It was here that Andrew fully committed himself to the world of photography. Within just four months of his arrival in New York, Andrew secured a coveted apprenticeship with the legendary Annie Leibovitz, a role that lasted three years and profoundly shaped his artistic vision. He further expanded his expertise through brief collaborations with renowned photographers Robert Mapplethorpe and Steven Meisel. In 1987, Andrew launched his career as a professional photographer, quickly establishing a reputation for capturing the essence of celebrities, models, athletes, politicians, musicians, and dancers. Over the past 33 years, his work has graced the covers of countless prestigious magazines worldwide and has produced an impressive array of advertising imagery for the film, television, Broadway, and music industries, both domestically and internationally. Throughout his illustrious career, Andrew has garnered numerous accolades from esteemed organizations, including the Society of Publication Designers and Communication Arts. In 1998, American Photography Magazine recognized him as one of the 100 Most Important People in the Industry. Notably, his iconic portrait of Robin Williams for the cover of the New York Times Magazine in 2000 has found a permanent home in a time capsule behind the Museum of Natural History in New York, destined to be reopened in the year 3000. Today, Andrew resides in Los Angeles, California, with his wife Meryl, who is pursuing her studies to become a Marine Biologist at UCLA. Their daughter Isabel is set to begin her academic journey at Loyola Marymount University in the Fall of 2020. Andrew's life and work continue to inspire, reflecting a remarkable journey through the art of photography.
