Among Equals 2023

Description

This black and white editorial portrait by photographer Hannah Scott-Stevenson for the project Among Equals captures a joyful moment with an elderly woman. She is shown laughing heartily with her head tilted back and her hand raised in a friendly wave toward the camera. In her arms, she cradles a bundle of freshly harvested leafy green vegetables alongside a patterned woven textile. She wears a patterned head wrap and layered patterned garments, creating a rich visual texture throughout the frame. The background features a storefront or street-level setting with painted signage partially visible above. The high-contrast monochromatic processing emphasizes the expressive emotion and tactile quality of the scene.
