Wallpaper China’s editorial project, THE MOTHER OF SILHOUETTES: WHEN ARCHIVES SPEAK, investigates the intersection of archival fashion and sculptural form. Captured by photographer Lennert Madou under the creative direction of Dou Qianlin, the series focuses on avant-garde silhouettes and structured couture, utilizing a deliberate interplay of light and shadow. Model Kristin Drab anchors the editorial, appearing in a range of highly tailored ensembles that emphasize architectural lines and textural complexity. The project leans into a minimalist aesthetic, often set against seamless studio backdrops to highlight the interplay between garments and the human figure. With styling by Francesca Parise, the imagery employs both soft light and moody chiaroscuro techniques to evoke a sense of surreal, monochromatic elegance.
