THE ANTWERP SIX

May 2026
Wallpaper China dives deep into the intellectual rigor and avant-garde legacy of The Antwerp Six in this striking fashion editorial. By stripping away the noise of modern excess, the project channels a raw, cinematic intensity that pays homage to the legendary Belgian collective while asserting a contemporary relevance. Under the creative direction of Dou Qianlin Latrubesse and captured through the lens of photographer Sarah Piantadosi, the series leans into a high-contrast monochrome aesthetic that feels both timeless and urgent. The deliberate use of analogue 35mm film techniques creates a tactile, archival quality, allowing the intricate textures of the garments—ranging from voluminous feathers to structured leather corsets and delicate sheer prints—to emerge against rugged, weathered stone backgrounds. With editorial styling by Jérémie Chegrane Bacqué, the visuals avoid cliché to explore a moody, contemplative space where minimalist framing meets intricate tailoring. The models, including Arvid Kaldo and Sasha Krivko, embody a neutral, direct presence, their expressions grounded by the expert hair styling of Sanne Schoofs and makeup application by Florence Teerlinck. This project succeeds as a masterclass in fashion photography, where the interplay of natural light and chiaroscuro lighting highlights not just the clothing, but the architecture of the human form itself. It stands as a refined, moody exploration of luxury fashion that feels entirely consistent with the radical, rule-breaking spirit of its subjects.
