For The Art Issue 2026, W Magazine China delivers a masterclass in high-fashion editorial, blurring the lines between wearable garments and sculptural installations. The project leans into a rigorous conceptual framework, where the interaction between form and environment becomes the central narrative. Photographed by the iconic Juergen Teller, the series thrives on a juxtaposition of the ethereal and the industrial. In one striking sequence, models Lina Zhang and Malin Rudnick inhabit a stark, utilitarian grey studio, their voluminous, architectural white gowns clashing beautifully with the raw, exposed wooden elements of the set. Creative direction by Dovile Drizyte and art direction by Zipeng Li heighten this tension, ensuring that every frame reads as a deliberate aesthetic study. The integration of bold, vivid floral accessories—styled with intricate ribbon work—adds a vital tactile layer to the portraits. The team, including the precision of hair stylist Yuji Okuda and the understated makeup artistry of Satoko Watanabe, ensures the focus remains on the complex construction of the silhouettes.
